Debbie and family, It was a blessing to be reunited with Denise after I moved back to Savannah. This was shortly after her accident. she was always laughing ans cracking jokes. She amazed me that she could be like this despite her situation. Her faith in God and her testimony helped me turn my life around to live serving God. I miss her very much but I know she is walking with Jesus. I am praying for all of you and I love you.

I met Denise many years ago when we both attended Bible Baptist. We were immediate friends, kindred spirits full of mischeviousness (as girls of that age are!). Denise left an indelible mark upon my soul then, and again later when we ended up working in the same doctor's office. It was quite a pleasant surprise to see her there and become reaquainted as friends. During our short reunion, she came to my home to visit and it was then that we discovered that I had married one of her child-hood sweethearts! What a fun day that was! I lost touch with Denise once again and learned of her tragic accident years later. My heart ached for her, as I could see her still so full of life and flashing that glorious smile that could light up a room. I am sure you all miss her so very, very much, but take comfort knowing that Denise touched many, many lives in ways you may never know, and was loved in special ways by so many people. As I sit here and write to you, I do not have tears of sadness, but a smile of joy knowing that she has seen the Father's face and is truely free! Continue to celebrate her life!

Rutledge Family: I have recently learned about Denise's passing. I can only hope she wasn't in pain. We had so much fun dancing in our younger days! Her hair & makeup was always perfect- even after dancing all night. I can tell you once we were talking about a dream she had (after her accident), one of the great things about her dreams she told me was - she was never in a wheelchair, in her dreams she always walked! That will remain with me forever. I am certain she is walking now... Linda Shellhamer

Aunt Nisee,

You have left some sweet memories.

The family has laughed just talking about the different little things you've said and done. I have never met a better spirited person especially in your past situation. I wish I could just peek into Heaven right now to see you walking around.

Every time Brooklyn makes a funny face we think about you and what you said, "Well you know where she gets that from!" and that is so true looking at pictures of you.

We love you and miss you!

Gigi (my "sweet little mother in law")

I know this time is very hard for you but I can remember what you told Denise in that hospital room...you told her to just say His name and there would be peace so when you get down and out just remember that. Oh! and just give me a call (something you find very easy to do) Ha! You are the best and I love you! memi

Debbie and Family, Every time Denise crossed my mind, I was so blessed by her courage, smile and how she viewed life through her Savior. She still had such a will to live, but shared that she was ready to meet her Savior..I have shared her testimony with many and I know the Lord used her life to glorify HIM..May God give you comfort during these days..Elaine (Bill Sullivan's mom)

Debbie, I went to school with your sister....she was the popular girl, bright eyes, quick to smile. I remember the smiles! I was a quiet one, wallflower if you may! She always had a smile for me...she treated people like people, not by their "position in the popularity crowd". I later heard of her tragic accident, then stories of her courage and how she carried on-still with that warm, bright smile as was her trademark. Seems everyone noticed that smile! She is a true inspiration to me. I wish I'd known her more. I am sure she is in Heaven now with her parents and Jesus. No more earth-bound, now with wings of freedom.

Dear Debbie and Family,

I wanted to add that the thing I most remember about Denise was her great sense of humor, and her amazing attitude, especially after the accident. She was never resentful nor did she have self pity that one might expect in a situation like hers, she was always so grateful to be alive and to be here with her family. Also, I have to add on a lighter note, long ago, in our "wild, younger" days, we made a great dance team, we even won several dance contest and we loved to dance together and that's one of the many wonderful memories I have of her, I will never forget her for as long as I live, I was blessed to have been able to call her my friend. I love you, Tony, Karisha, Trey and their families, you are blessed with a beautiful and loving family. Love, Bill Sullivan
