Ed was always good for a story and a laugh. He was a regular at the Habersham "Y" where he would entertain with tales of growing up on his German-immigrant folks' dairy farm in Northern Wisconsin, riding his horse to school, the arrival of REA electricity on the farm in the mid-30s, serving as a Naval Officer in Japan after WWII, getting hijacked to Cuba in the 60s....
He was always upbeat - even when taking one to task for mentioning his visual difficulties. "Hell, I'm not "visually impaired" he would scold, "I'm blind!"
To the end -- a true zest for life !
