Elizabeth Alexander Obituary

In loving memory, Elizabeth Gail Bishop Alexander of Savannah, Georgia passed away in her home on November 28th, 2018. Gail was born May 30th, 1947 in Savannah, Georgia to Ambrose Walter Scheider and Marjorie Louise Scheider. Gail graduated from Savannah High School in 1965, then moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she attended Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona. While in Phoenix she embarked on a very successful career in pharmaceutical sales. She was a master in her field, earning the respect of her colleagues. A few of her closest lifelong friends were made through years of correspondences within the field, having never having the opportunity to meet them in person. Gail met Tom Alexander in Scottsdale, Arizona and were married in 2006 before moving back and settling down in Savannah. Gail had a true love for animals as she was known to many as the, "cat lady". She not only welcomed many into her home, but she would take care of several that surrounded her neighborhood with food and love. One before-mentioned friend of Gail's recently wrote her a letter in which stated "...your kindness has been multiplied many times over which has made the world a better place. Your grace and warmth in making everyone feel loved and respected is a wonderful legacy to a life well lived." Gail was a wonderful woman, very strong, positive, caring, kind, and a good listener. Gail was a friend to all she met and will be greatly missed. It was a privilege to know her.

Gail was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, and courageously fought this disease for three years. She is preceded in death by her father Ambrose Scheider, mother Marjorie Scheider, sister Barbara Padgette, and her brothers Robert and Wally Scheider.

Gail is survived by her husband Tom Alexander, several nieces and nephews, and her step children.

On behalf of Gail and Tom, we would like to express our gratitude to the many nurses and staff of both Kindred At Home and the Hospice of Savannah. Thank you for all the continued thoughts, prayers, and support for her and her family,

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Association.
