Fred Foley Obituary

After a lengthy illness Fred Ray Foley Sr. left this earth surrounded by his family on September 17th at 6:15pm. For nearly 20 years, Fred was the owner and operator, with his wife Charlene, of C&F Auto Repair & Service Center on Mall Boulevard. Fred was widely known around Savannah for his Good Nature, Humor, Kindness, and Giving personality which afforded him the BEST of many Friendships. To the many people that he helped along the way, when showing their gratitude, his response was "I'm just a Good Ol' Country Boy trying to do what's right."

Fred Foley was born in Savannah at Hunter Air Force Base which is now known as Hunter Army Airfield. Being raised in Savannah and Cobbtown Georgia, he referred to himself as "A Cobbtown Sport with City Britches." Since 15 years old Fred worked in the Automobile industry working in nearly every facet from sweeping the floors of the parts house, Auto Salesman to Service Repair Manager. After being employed for 33 years, he became his own boss with his wife of C&F. Fred loved to play Pool and he played it well in several league tournaments around Savannah.

Fred married the love of his life and became the anchoring patriarch of both families. He was a teacher, a leader, a provider and the best Husband, Father, Stepfather, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather his family could ask for. His example of hard work and persistence has and will continue to be a beacon for his family.

Fred is survived by his wife Charlene, brother David, Sons Freddie Jr., Jason, Bart, Ashley, and Carl; Daughters Lynnie and Jeannie; Daughters in Law Siri and Mary; 19 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren; several Aunts, Uncles, Niece, Nephews, Cousins in the Metter Georgia area, and many close friends that are considered family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, from 4 -8pm at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel. 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah.

A funeral will be held at 1pm, Saturday at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Savannah.

Fred you will be missed by so many. You were a wonderful man with a big heart. I respected and loved you dearly. You were always my go to person with my vehicle when you were in business. You could always be trusted. Your dignity was beyond reproach. I don't know who is going to keep Johnny Wilcher and Peppy Zittrauer straight now.
Charlene if there is ever anything that Peppy and I can do for you or your family please know that we are just a phone call away.
With love and sympathy,
Kathy Zittrauer
