Mr. James W. Blakely, Jr. - STATESBORO - Mr. James W. Blakely, Jr., 76, died September 14, 2016 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born to the late James W Blakely Sr and Thelma Hill Blakely in Waycross, Georgia on March 31, 1940. He received his education in the public schools of Ware County and a graduate of Center High School, class of 1957. He went on to pursue his education in music where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Florida A & M University, Class of 1961. He was a member of the Famous Marching 100's marching band where he played Alto Saxophone. After graduating from Florida A & M he moved to Statesboro, Georgia where he met and married Glarushia Riggs. He later was employed at William James High School where he became band director and later at South East Bulloch High School. Mr. Blakely later became the Social Services Director of Grace Nursing Home and Pecan Manor Rehabilitation as Social Services Coordinator. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Tony Harris. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Glarushia Blakely, his children Micheal Cobb, Tonilynn Thomas, Miyoshi Morris, Bettina Blakely, Nicole Blakely Boulding and Chenagi Blakely.
