Mike Nickles was the best boss I ever had; there is no doubt about that. Mike was a solid engineer and a wise businessman, and he was kind and fair to his clients, colleagues, and employees. Finally, he was a great family man, with a lovely wife and three outstanding sons. I and many of my fellow employees at ATEC enjoyed and giggled at the original words and phrases Mike often coined and used, but but I cannot remember anyone at ATEC ever having a bad thing to say about the man. Mike and I played golf together at Turf Valley Country Club on numerous weekends, and we always had a good time, with Mike always coming out on top. Even though we weren't very compatible partners, i.e., Mike had a terrible, reproducible slice and I had a fairly consistent duck hook. So when we rode together in a single cart, we generally had to follow a zig--zag path. I have to count Mike Nickles as one of my favorite people, and I will continue to miss him.

Dear Karen:

My deepest sympathy on the loss of Mike. He gave me much opportunity when I worked for him, and to this day I find myself practicing some of the lessons he taught, and repeating the phrases he used.
