How can I begin to give the full sum and measure of the man? Great friend, better supervisor and police officer, and more importantly, he loved his family so much.

I can only wish him a well earned peace and rest, and hope that those who remain can one day stop hurting.

Joe, I learned more from you than I ever knew just by watching. Thank you for teaching me, even when I didn't know you were.

I will always remember the last words you said to me, quoting your great grand Dylan: "Thank you, bye."

Sgt. Jordan was my first Supervisor in my first professional job. He made a big difference in my life without even knowing it. Although we came from very different backgrounds he always knew how to communicate with me and had my respect and admiration from my first day with him. I have never forgotten our trips to the fish camp and his words of encouragement for me when I was going through a difficult patch. I hope that each one of us can positively impact others in the way that Sgt. Jordan impacted me and made a difference in my life.

Joe Jordan was a solid police officer who could handle any situation. His retirement was a loss to the law enforcement community. He was scrupulously honest, loyal and dedicated. His passing is a loss to the broader community.

To the Jordan family its not hard realizing how much Jordan cared for his family, supported his fellow officers and one I knew was my friend; and how much I cherished visits to each other's homes. There is no doubt Sarge will be missed.I was always amazed at Jordan's ability to quote case studies at roll-call and his ability to work in any community. Jordan's heart was PURE. SEMPER FI my fellow Marine.

To Joe's family and loved ones:
I first met Joe when I became a Chatham County Police Officer in 1970. We both were in the same rookie class. I have a picture that was made of all of us on SPD's steps on Habersham Street. I always knew Joe to be a great guy and policeman. He also had a sense of humor. I hope that his family will take comfort in knowing he did and excellent job as a policman, and he was also a great guy! May his soul rest in peace and may God give his family strength and comfort. Take care Joe!!!!!

I worked on the old Directed Patrol Unit with Sgt. "Scruffy" back in the mid-80's. Joe was a great Sergeant to work for. He took care of his troops and kept it interesting. Rest in peace, Joe.

Willet you and your family have my sympathy. Sgt. Jordan was a good supervisor and a good friend. I know that you were his true soulmate and his family always came first, and his job was second. He will truly be missed. Thank you for allowing your husband to be a part of all of our lives. God is too wise to make a mistake and too just to do wrong. He will help you get through this time of sorrow.

I worked for Sgt. J. Jordan longer than any other supervisor. He was a rock in every storm, a firm, but fair supervisor, and a mentor to all. With his skills and ability, it was a sad day when he retired from the force. Now the world is a lot duller with his passing. Sgt. Jordan was the last of the great “old school” supervisors and above all, a cop's cop.
Rest in peace my friend.

I was thinking of Joe on the USMC birthday only days ago.. It is hard to say good bye to someone that touched so many peoples lives and made a difference. Being a Police Officer takes a special person and Joe was great at it. My family will miss Joe and think of him often.

I was very sad to hear of Joes' passing. We were friend since he came on the police dept. and rode with me. A great officer and a wild guy for sure. One of the funniest people I've ever know with his dry wit. He always had your back. We served as instructors together at the old Savannah Police Academy. Today a true friend and hero has gone to be with our lord. Rest in peace "Jeep". SEMPER FI !

Joe you have been a friend, mentor to the young officers, family man and always willing to spend a moment to offer advice to those in need. I will miss our long, colorful conversations that we have had through the years. I have learned an immense amount from you and shared it throughout our profession. You have impacted the lives and careers of countless officers and made it a better place. Get some rest we will see you on the other side....

Joe was the assistant commandant at the police academy when I went though as a member of the CCPD.

I always considered him to be a police officer's police officer, and I appreciated all that he did to train the new officers by sharing his knowledge and experience.

He will be missed.
