My sincere condolences are offered to the family on the passing of a true saint.

I will forever be grateful to Mrs. West for the love and compassion shown to me while a student tenant in her apartment. Her caring and encouragement were a great value to me in building confidence as I entered adulthood and professional career.

One on my great joys was returning several years ago to say “thank you”! Though her presence will be missed, her loving spirit will live on in our hearts.

To Betty and all of Mrs. West's family. I like many throughout Savannah was extremely saddened to learn of Mrs. West's passing. I remember how she, Mr. West and you (Betty) welcomed me as family when I joined St. Mary's and I will always cherish that love and friendship. I am so thankful for the time I spent with Mrs. West recently when we rode together to the burial of Mrs. Edna Law in South Carolina. We shared stories of times long gone and laughed and joked as we always did. After the repast I insisted that she allow me to drive her home and reluctantly she did and we shared more stories and laughs as we cruised in the silver Caddy. I cautioned her not to be driving and she graciously listened while she and I both knew that she was going to continue to drive whenever she wanted. I remember making sure she got inside her home safely and her thanking me. Recognizing life's realties and that another meeting with someone is never promised I kissed her cheek and told her thanks for being family to me and that I loved her. She smiled and told me she loved me too. I will always remember that moment and will always remember "Mrs. Lucy West." May God's love and the love of friends help you and your family through these difficult times.
