Michael A. Ravain, MSN, RN
January 6, 2024
I served in the USAF with Dr. Nash at Patrick AFB in Cocoa Beach, FL from 1972-74. He was a general medical officer and I was a medical services specialist at the 6550th USAF Hospital (AFSC). I had a budding interest in recording technologies and folk guitar, and I recorded Dr. Nash and his performance partner,
Sgt. Larry Byers, as they prepared for the Air Force worldwide talent competition in which they were finalists playing a duet of Mason Williams "Classical Gas." I subsequently was taught by Dr. Nash how to play guitar in a folk, fingerpicking style.
Unfortunately, that cassette tape recorded on a RadioShack cassette deck with very cheap microphones was lost many years ago, and the facility to play the fingerpicking style that Dr. Nash taught me was lost after I had open heart surgery and a subsequent stroke. I will always remember how kind and patient Dr. Nash was with me as I struggled to learn what he was trying to teach me. He was the same with the patient that we saw in the hospital. I left the Air Force in 1974 and became a professional nurse and retired after 50 years. Recently, I had someone ask me to teach them to play fingerpicking guitar as they had heard me play about 30 years ago when I was at the height of my development... which was nowhere near the proficiency of Dr. Nash. I will remember Mike fondly as an excellent physician and an excellent human being who invested his time, and his talents to help those in any kind of need.
Since I´m in poor health, I was reminiscing about people who I influence my life... And Dr. Nash was one of those people. To all of you who know Dr. Nash or are related to him, I extend you my condolences. I am very thankful to have known him and I hope that all of you will recognize that you very positively influenced many people in his personal life... respected by his colleagues, admired by his patients... a fine example of the positive impact that a caring human being can make someone´s life.
With utmost respect and admiration,
Michael A. Ravain, MSN, RN

Dear
Mindy, David and the Nash Family,
We are so sorry to hear of your loss and send our condolences. I didn't
know your dad very well, but did meet your parents a few times. I know
he was a great, gifted, and exceptional man because of my friendship
with you over the past 10 + years. The person, mother, wife and friend
you have grown into is a great reflection of the man your dad was when
he was here on earth.
Love, Kristina, Chad and Ava

Mrs.Nash, Dr.Sentman, and family,
My love, thoughts, and prayers are with you all. I knew Dr. Nash since my teen yrs, both professionally and personally...he was always kind and thoughtful to me, and always a patient mentor; willingly sharing his knowledge. My father was a fellow "Candler man" with him in the "70's" and we both loved his unique sense of humor, timing, and outlook on life and medicine. I've missed him since he retired from Marshlands (and Dr.Sentman, you helped bridge that gap for me - Thanks.)...now I miss him and his laugh more...May God Be With You All...
Always,
Gigi Roque-Rowan, RN

To the Nash Family,
I had known Dr Nash for over twenty years. I still have the card he sent me when my father dies as well as a letter of recommendation that he wrote for me.
He loved his family. I still recall the many times he kept me posted on the girls when they were little. He also gave me my love of Duke basketball!
My thoughts and prayers are with you always.
Sincerely
Anne Byerly RN
