Denny, age 70, passed into her next life peacefully at home with her loving family beside her on January 14th, 2024.
Denny was born in Chicago, Il to Marcia and Richard Solberg on March 9th, 1953. She grew up in rural Lake Forest with her 4 brothers, along with ducks, geese, donkeys and 1 rambunctious raccoon named Rocky. Denny spent her teen years attending Janis Joplin shows and enjoying a bit of fun that being a teen in the '60s offered.
Denny moved to Denver, Colorado for a couple of years where she worked as a phone operator and picked up her 1st puppy, Maynard. Denny left Denver with Paul Picchietti whom she married on September 4th, 1976. They had 2 children and were married for 38 years until his death. During that time Denny excelled as a bookkeeper/office manager for their business, North Shore Auto Service in Lake Bluff. She honed her sewing skills making clothes, teddy bears, dolls and eventually moved on to stained glass projects. Denny was an amazing cook and loved hosting Christmas Parties. She was notably an expert haggler and frequented garage sales procuring the antiques she loved so much.
She moved to Hayward in 1999 with her family and became a board member for the Town of Round Lake and worked at the Sawyer County Record for a number of years before retiring. She passionately and successfully petitioned to have parts of County Road S designated as a Rustic Road.
Denny was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed. She leaves behind her children: Amy (Jeremy) Picchietti-Pajac and Justin Picchietti; grandchildren: Vincent, Olivia, Caitlin and Darian; her brothers: Ward, Dean, and Jack Solberg, special sister-in-law Diana Picchietti, and her last dog Mayhem.
Denny was preceded in death by her husband Paul Picchietti, brother Scott Solberg, her father Richard Solberg, and mother Marcia Solberg.

I worked with Denny on the planning Comm. for Round Lake and friends with her and Paul before that. She was an active member of her community and a great lady to call Friend. Carol Bacon
