Paul G. Zegler, age 72, of Hayward, WI passed away on Monday, , at his home.
Paul Guy Zegler was born September 13, 1951, in Stanley, WI, the son of Raymond and Helen (Zielinski) Zegler. He was raised in a suburb of Chicago and after his schooling began work for Hertz in Chicago. Paul moved to Thorp, WI where he took a job with a local car dealership working as a mechanic. On December 13, 1977, Paul was joined in marriage to Kimberly A. Burnett in Owen-Withee, WI. Together, Paul and Kim moved to Chicago for a short time before moving to Baldwin, WI. Paul would work for a local car dealership in Baldwin before operating his own gas station and towing business called Paul's Standard. Paul and Kim sold the business and decided to move to Hayward, WI after vacationing in the area. Paul took a job as a car salesman for Meyer Ford in Hayward and then became service manager for the dealership. After his career in the automobile industry, Paul went to work for Thompsons Sand and Gravel where he drove trucks and operated dispatch. He retired from Thompsons after 25 years with the company. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, working the land, driving his tractor, and watching football and NASCAR. He owned numerous Chevy Corvettes, Dodge Challengers and Dodge Chargers throughout his life and had a passion for classic cars. Paul will be remembered for his positive attitude and his fun-loving spirit. He loved his family dearly.
Paul is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kim; daughter, Robin (Sam) Lulich of Ashland, WI; six grandchildren, Jaelyn Zegler, Taylor Hauge, Adam Hauge, Bailey Lulich, Leann Hudack, Ashley Lulich; great grandson, Cade Hudack; sister, Rita (Lou) Grespan of Lake Geneva, WI; Jaclyn Rohlfing; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Jay Zegler.
A memorial service will be held for Paul at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the Hayward Funeral Home. A time of gathering with family and friends will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later time at Saint Hedwig Old Cemetery in Thorp, WI.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
