ELIZABETH ORDWAY Obituary

ELIZABETH (BETTY) ANN ORDWAY A joyous reunion and a painful parting occurred at the same moment July 2, 2010, when Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Ordway was called home to be with the Lord. She was born in Santa Monica, CA, Dec. 4, 1941, to Paul and Floise Hine. She leaves behind her daughters, Carol, Barbara and Linda; grandchildren, Nicole, April, Sarah, Robbie, Monica, Jonathon and Melina; great-grandchildren, Joslynne, James, Lilyanne and Aiden; brothers, Paul Hine and wife, Kenny, and David Hine and wife, Jeanne; brother-in-law, Carl Ordway; sons-in-law, John Horton and Tony Marsh; grandsons-in-law, Carlos, Chris and Rich; and many others whom she loved and adored. She was a stay-at-home Mom until her youngest daughter entered high school, then went on to become proudly employed at Caltrans for 15 years, first as a stenographer, and with great ambition worked hard to become a Highway Design Engineer. Her family resided in Bloomington for 25 years, and after her retirement in 1998 she and her husband, Al, moved to Hesperia. There are no words to describe the everything that is perfect to every person she was. To all who knew her she was the best friend who could be leaned on at anytime and she always had the right thing to say to make it all better. A soft shoulder, compassionate heart, and sincere love were just a few of her great qualities that made her more loved than life itself. In 2009, just 1 1/2 years to losing her husband, Al, to a heart attack, Betty was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and two months later with pancreatic cancer. It would have been so easy to succumb to the disease and be at peace with those who went before her. However, she endured the treatments and bravely fought for her family. In her final year, she went on trips, rejoiced with two new great-grandchildren and witnessed a granddaughter's wedding. All this, on her own two feet, wearing the most amazing, radiant and unforgettable smile. Betty loved photography and was rarely seen without a camera. We will miss and regret the times we were stubborn whenever we heard "let me get a picture!" Her favorite hobby during retirement was genealogy, where she made many friends and found distant relatives. These people were not just acquaintances, they became family, and it would not have happened if it weren't for Betty's many hours of work and the ambitious desire to go to every library and read any transcript and books that were available. Above all, her greatest love was for our Lord Jesus. She received Christ as her Savior 40 years ago, and during her final days, she was a constant reminder of his glorious love, grace and promise of eternity in heaven. She was to her family a true gift from God and was the most amazing Wife, Mom, Grandma and G-G. Her voice, strength, drive, dedication to purpose and kindness will be missed every day. Now in the loving embraces of those who preceded her in death. She is joined with her parents, and husband of 49 years, Albert Ordway. In honor of her request, no services will be held. The family gives heartfelt thanks for everyone's prayers, and to the High Desert Visiting Nurse Association, and the Foremost Care wing A-5 staff for all their care and support. They are a true testament that angels walk among us.

Dear Grandma,
Words can never express the love I have for you. I enjoyed every moment we shared together from the times you explained the love God had for my family and I, witinessing both of my boys come into the world to meet thir GG and the marriage to my soul mate Carlos. You were not only a mother to me but my best friend. Taking you to chemo was bitter sweet moments knowing you were extending your life to be here longer for my boys and doing everything in your power to get healthy. For "Pet Sakes" grandma Al wanted his beautiful wife home in heaven with him. James always asks to see you and I tell him you are flying with the angels looking down on us. First my dad and then the loss of you has left me broken. I am going to continue to go to church, take my calcium lol, and keep you in my heart and prayers forever. Your memory will always live on in my, Carlos, and the boys' hearts. I know you are happy and in no more pain which gives me peace. Grandma I want you to know that you were and will always be my everything. I love you; rest in peace and I can't wait to meet you at the gates of hevean some day. God Bless you...You are missed on earth but were greeted in heaven from our maker. Thank you for fighting to stay strong for our family. You were the most beautiful woman from the inside out. I love you and my boy love their GG forever!

I was so sorry to hear of Betty's death. When we first moved to the area she introduced me to local libraries and the genealogical society. And we enjoyed seeing her and Al at mineral and rock events. She was kind and sincere and a lovely person. Our deepest sympathy to the family. Jane and Casey
