Michael Winker Obituary

MICHAEL J. WINKER born October 4th, 1937 in St. Bernardine's Hospital, San Bernardino, California, was killed instantly near Murray, Idaho, April 19th at 10 pm when his truck hit a tree on a snow covered winding mountain road. Michael was a 1955 St. Bernardine's High School graduate, and attended San Bernardino Valley College. He joined the U.S. Navy Nuclear Service stationed in Honolulu, HA. Michael was well known in San Bernardino as the night ma nager of McDonalds 14th Street Drive-in, next door to the family residence on 14th Street before entering the Navy. He is survived by his companion Bonnie Walker of Murray, Idaho; his mother, Teresa D. Winker of St. Bernardine's Plaza, 5th Street, San Bernardino; sister Teresa A. Luby of Henderson, Nevada; brother, Daniel C. Winker, Pasadena, CA; brother James P. Winker of Invine, CA; daughter Sandra Stohmer, Valencia, CA; son Steven J. Winker, San Diego, CA; daughter, Teri Lynn Rose (Bob) of Kingman, AZ; daughter Cari (Nico) Germann of San Juan Capistrano; 3 granddaughters and 2 grandsons; 6 nephews and 2 nieces. He is preceded in death by his father Joseph P. Winker in 1961. Michael had just recently retired as a General Contractor in San Clemente, CA and moved to the Coer D'Alene area near his first cousins to enjoy his retirement when this accident happened. Memorial services are pending at Mission San Juan Capistrano and also in Kellogg, Idaho. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and frie nds.
