She was a full-time homemaker and loved cooking, gardening, floral arranging, quilting, reading the Bible, and rooting for the Dodgers. She was a member of the Whittier Church of Christ for over 60 years. Ruby will be remembered for her love of life, positive attitude, always doing for others, and her delicious homemade cinnamon rolls.

She is preceded in death by her husband in 1981; her brothers, Walter Kidwell and C.W. Kidwell; and her sisters, Violet Kingham and Evelyn Drennan.

Ruby is survived by her two children, Mark Edward (Linda) Messersmith of Redlands, CA and Kent Edward Messersmith of Huntington Beach, CA; daughter-in-law Laura Messersmith of La Mirada, CA; five grandchildren, Christopher Edward (Amber) Messersmith of Fort Collins, CO, Kimberly Anne (Scott) Bevan of Portland, OR, Eric Edward Messersmith of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Alex Edward Messersmith of La Mirada, CA and Nancy Rae Brandon of Las Vegas, NV; by five great-grandchildren, Addilyn Jae Messersmith and Graden Edward Messersmith of Fort Collins, CO, Annabelle Grace Bevan and Franklin Christopher Bevan of Portland, OR, and Zachary Thomas Brandon of Las Vegas, NV; and numerous nieces and nephews.

I was a friend of Ruby's two sons, Mark and Kent back in the late 1950's and early 1960's and went to Whittier Church of Christ so I've known Ruby since I was about 10 years old. She was a lovely person and I spent many hours at her home playing games with her two sons. May Ruby rest in peace. Condolonces and prayers are being sent your way, Mark and Kent.
