Daniel Eugene Polca, 87, of Barnesville, passed away peacefully April 23, 2023.
He was a son of the late Michael John and Susan (Simon) Polca.
He was also preceded in death by wife, Rita Mae Polca; granddaughter, Delanie Polca; and sister, Constance Viola Bemer.
Daniel is survived by sons, Mark Polca and wife, Paula, of Hometown, and Kevin Polca and wife, Melanie, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; grandchildren, Sara Besz and Allexa Branham; two great-grandchildren, Waylond Besz and Arrietty Davies; brother, Michael (Susan) Polca; sister, Eleanor (Eric) Randall; and many nieces and nephews.
Dan was a loving husband to his wife of 61 years and a devoted father and family man.
He proudly served in the Marine Corps Reserve (1952-1960), during the Korean War.
He was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Mahanoy City. He was also a member of Tamaqua/Mahanoy City Masonic Lodge No. 238 F&AM.
Dan was employed by Acme Markets, where he retired after 38 years of faithful service.
After retirement, he enjoyed having more time to spend with his family. Dan was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, and he instilled that passion in his sons.
He was loved and respected by family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.
Friends and family were received from 11 a.m. until the time of service at noon Saturday, April 29, at Miller Funeral Home & Crematory of Somerset, with the Rev. Fred T. Crawford officiating. Interment was held at Kingwood I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Masonic funeral rites and military honors were held.
