Eileen Teter, of Zion Grove, passed away peacefully Oct. 7, 2023, at the age of 76.
She was born Jan. 28, 1947, in Ringtown, a daughter of the late John and LaRue (Hart) Ambrose.
Eileen's journey through life was marked by meaningful moments and dedicated service. She graduated from the former Ringtown High School in 1964, embarking on a path that would lead to a fulfilling career as a teller at the M&T Bank's Ringtown branch office, where she worked for over 18 years until her retirement.
Eileen was a woman of faith and a cherished member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Ringtown. She was an active member of the Ladies Aid group and a former member of the church council.
She was a member of the Ringtown Senior Citizens, and her interests ranged from reading to crocheting and sewing. Eileen was known for her love of card games and had a particular fondness for watching "Jeopardy," which became a shared family tradition.
Eileen's life was not without its share of challenges, but she faced them with strength and resilience.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald, in 1999, as well as two granddaughters, Kirby's daughters - Amber and Cassandra; and her sister, Diane Primrose.
Eileen's memory will forever be cherished by her surviving children, Kyle and his wife, Daria, of Sinking Spring, Jody "Schroeder," of Zion Grove, Kirby and his wife, Janet, of Shenandoah Heights, Georgine, wife of Edward Miley, of Leesport, and Travis and his wife, Mandy, of Ringtown. Her legacy lives on through her nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and the anticipation of another great-grandchild. Eileen is also survived by her sister, Janice Wasser; two brothers, William Ambrose and John "Bugsy" Ambrose; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at St. John's Lutheran Church on West Main Street in Ringtown. The funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Craig Zimmerman, will begin at 11 a.m. Eileen will be laid to rest next to her husband, Donald, in Mount Zion Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ringtown Area Library in honor of Eileen's passion for reading and community enrichment.
