Stephen Pruskowski

Stephen Pruskowski, 74, of Zion Grove, Pennsylvania, formerly of Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026.

Born on April 12, 1951, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Stephen was the son of the late Marion (née Pasquale) and Alfred Pruskowski. He was raised in Newark, New Jersey, and later made his home in Berkeley Heights, where he resided for many years before moving to Zion Grove, Pennsylvania.

Stephen was a graduate of Governor Livingston High School and proudly served in the Army National Guard. He followed his passion for cooking by attending the Culinary Institute of America, which led to a long and fulfilling career as a chef in various restaurants and facilities throughout the Berkeley Heights area.

Stephen found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time at the beach, especially swimming in the ocean. He enjoyed watching MeTV particularly The Twilight Zone and listening to 1960s rock and roll. He also had a love for music and enjoyed playing the guitar. Above all, he cherished time spent with and doting on his family.

Stephen is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Kathy (née Mott) Pruskowski; his loving daughters, Jennifer Schwerner and her husband Eric, and Christie Karwell and her husband Ryan; and his cherished grandson, Eben Karwell. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers- and sisters-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Mary Ann Hutchinson and Alfred Pruskowski.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation on Friday, March 20th, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Avenue, Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM, followed by burial at St. Teresa's Cemetery, Passaic Avenue, Summit, New Jersey.
