Jane Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial on Mar. 11, 2026.
Jane L. Davis, 87, of Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home on March 2, 2026.

Born in Camden, New Jersey, Jane was the beloved daughter of the late Doris (née Lanning) and William C. Davis. She was the loving mother of the late Kathleen Scannapieco. She spent most of her life in Berkeley Heights, where she became a well-known and cherished member of the community.

Jane devoted many years of service as a school secretary for the Berkeley Heights Board of Education. In that role, she became a familiar and welcoming presence to many students, parents, teachers, and staff. Known for her kindness, warmth, and willingness to help anyone who walked through the office door, Jane was deeply loved and respected by the faculty and staff, as well as by the many families and students she assisted throughout the years. Her gentle nature, patience, and friendly smile left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Jane loved her time at the beach whether it was in Ocean City, Townsend's Inlet or Bermuda. An avid reader, she could be found with a good book and her feet in the sand. Always a kid at heart, she delighted in watching the little ones, going to the boardwalk, or playing games - especially the ruthless, family favorite "dirty bingo".

Jane's love of traveling took her all over, with fun trips with Kathleen and her friends to Norway, Alaska, and beyond. Her love of shopping was like no other. Always bringing home treasures and gifts from wherever she's been. She loved parties at Cathy's lake house, the horse races and bridge with her friends. A sports fan, she kept up with all her favorite teams, the Yankees, the Giants and the family's beloved Duke basketball, never missing a game.

Jane was a devoted sister and a loving aunt. She is survived by her siblings, William Davis, Barbara Schultes, and Candy Penrod and her husband Jack. She is also survived by ten loving nieces and nephews, twenty-one great nieces and nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends who will fondly remember her kindness and caring spirit.

A Celebration of Life service and luncheon will be held on Saturday April 4th at Cafe Venezia Ristorante Italiano in Martinsville, NJ for family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jane can be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, themmrf.org.
