John Troianello Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial on Feb. 21, 2026.
John Leonard Troianello, 92, of New Providence, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on February 16, 2026.

A memorial service will take place on February 28th at Lantern Hill Senior Living Community, 539 Mountain Ave, New Providence, NJ 07974. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

John was born in Madison, NJ, one of eleven children. He and his wife, Barbara, spent most of their married years in Berkeley Heights before relocating later in life to Lantern Hill.

John was well known in the community for his years of dedicated service as the Meat Department Manager at Foodtown Supermarket in Berkeley Heights. He was a skilled tradesman, renowned for his craftsmanship and care for his customers. John also proudly served his country as a Master Sergeant in the Army National Guard.

He thoroughly enjoyed woodworking and gardening, cultivating a yard that was widely admired. Above all, he cherished attending family weddings and celebrating the births of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

John was the beloved husband of Barbara Troianello (née Gargiulo); loving father of Ed Troianello and his wife, Mary; Bambi Winkler and her husband, Paul; and Lisa Zarkoski and her husband, Marty; and cherished grandfather of Bryan, Adam, and Kyle Troianello, and Nick, Katie, and Tasha Winkler. Revered great grandfather of Olivia and Avery Troianello.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
