Janet Costa Obituary

Janet H. (Scheib) Costa, 69, of Hegins, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at her residence.

She was born Sunday, July 20, 1952, in Harrisburg, a daughter of the late Ralph A. Scheib and the late Helen Fetterolf Neugard Scheib.

She was a 1970 graduate of Central Dauphin East High School and a 1973 graduate of the former Polyclinic Hospital School of Nursing.

She retired as a night shift nursing supervisor at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street, Pottsville.

She was a member of Calvary Chapel, Valley View.

Known by all of us as "Nenny," Janet loved going to her grandchildren's activities, being outdoors, camping and attending concerts. Janet loved God and was a shining example of a faithful follower. She put others' needs ahead of her own and was a wonderful caregiver.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Milo Charlie Unger Costa; and a brother, Alvin Scheib.

She is survived by her husband, Richard J. Costa, to whom she was married for 49 years. She is also survived by two daughters, Sarah E. Carl and her partner, Brian Kunkel, of Orwigsburg, and Laura B. Costa and her partner, Adam J. Wolfgang, of Sacramento; three sons, Jonathan D. Costa and his partner, Jessica Palmquist Hughes, of Signal Hills, Calif., Richard J. Costa Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Valley View, and Adam N. Costa, of Hegins; grandchildren, Hilary, Robyn and Myah Wehry, Annabella, Kami, Alexander and Lydian Costa, Cadence Costa-Wolfgang, Dylan Unger and Ryley Hixenbaugh; a sister, Mae Jones, of Milton; two nieces, Karen Martello and Kathleen Keller; and her mother-in-law, Dorothea Haidle.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with Pastor Jonathan Hikes officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Spring Glen.
