John Zubris Obituary

John "Yackie" Zubris, 73, passed away Thursday morning at his residence in Brockton.

Born Oct. 18, 1950, in Pottsville, he was a son of the late John S. Zubris and June Rose (James) Zubris.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Zubris, and a sister, Susan Hamilton.

Yackie was a 1968 graduate of Nativity BVM High School and was employed as a custodian for the Tamaqua School District until retirement.

Yackie is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Cecelia Heitz Zubris, Brockton; sons, Luke Zubris, Pittston, and Zachary, Warminster; brother, James Zubris; and sisters, Mary Beth, wife of Kenneth Eckert, Theresa Zubris and Jeanette, wife of Mike Cromyak, all of New Philadelphia, and Martina Reed, New Ringgold.

Prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Monsignor William F. Glosser as celebrant. Viewing will be from 8:30 a.m. until time of service at Thomas J. Bartashus Funeral Home, New Philadelphia.
