Joseph J. Bowman Jr., 84, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022.
Born in Jacksons, Pa., Schuylkill County, he later became a resident of Bucks County for many years following.
Joe was the son of the late Joseph Sr. and Anna (Koelzer) Bowman, of Mahanoy City. He was a 1957 graduate of Mahanoy Twp. Junior/Senior High School.
After graduation, he joined the Navy, where he served proudly for four and a half years. He was employed at William H. Rorer as an HVAC mechanic, where he retired after 30 years of dedicated service.
During his retirement years, he kept himself very busy. He was a jack of all trades, never turning anyone or any job down. People would say: "If Bowman couldn't fix it, then it couldn't be fixed!" Whether being a babysitter, handyman, kids' chauffeur or working on endless "honey do" lists, he did it with love in his heart and an infectious smile to boot. He enjoyed fishing in South Carolina with a Yuengling beer in hand, a cigar in his mouth all while relaxing on the beach. He had a long-standing love of motorcycles, especially for his Goldwing Trike. When joining the Blue Comet Motorcycle Club, he felt another sense of purpose in the world. Whether it was cooking for club functions, working the fairs or Lansdale Bike Nights, it was using his trade to build a structure on the club grounds. The club was his home away from home. He tried to get in as many cycle rides as he could, especially with his son.
Joe had a big heart and shared that with his family in so many ways.
Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Rose (Bowman) Dolbin.
He was a devoted husband of 60 years to Daria (Shaker); a proud father to son, Jon (Susan) and daughter, Lori; a loving grandfather to Shelby and Maxwell; and a doggie dad to their many beloved pets.
He is survived by his brothers, Francis (Kathleen) Bowman and John (Bridget) Bowman, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Interment will be private at the family's request.
