Leroy C. Schnoke, 98, of Spittler Road, Pine Grove, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, in the Lebanon VA Hospital.
Born Sept. 26, 1923, in Pine Grove Twp., he was a son of the late Harry and Sallie Heiser Schnoke.
Leroy attended Pine Grove High School.
He was an Army veteran, serving with the 75th AAA Gun Bn and was in the Army Reserve for five years.
Leroy was a truck driver for Franklin Stump Coal Co.; worked construction at Mount Gretna on the Interstate 81 project and Kingston Construction Co. at the Lebanon reservoir in Suedberg; and worked for Day and Zimmerman at Cressona Aluminum. He retired in 1982 after 33 years as the head food service supervisor at the Lebanon VA Hospital.
He was a member of St. Peter's UCC, Pine Grove, for over 65 years.
He was a life member of both the Tulpehocken Rifle and Pistol Club in Pine Grove and the Ravine Fire Company and a member of the North End Fire Company and Suedberg Fire Company.
Preceding him in death were his wife of 66 years, Erma L. Lengle Schnoke, and a brother, Clayton Schnoke.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis and wife, Margaret Schnoke, and Robert and wife, Kathyrn Schnoke, both of Pine Grove; four grandchildren, Rebecca Schnoke Dunkelburger, Jonathan Schnoke, William Schnoke and Jessica Schneck; two step-grandsons, Damon Lengle Jr. and Michael Stenulis; five great-grandchildren, Jesse, Jetta, Jax, Jase and Garrett Schnoke; three brothers, Charles Schnoke, Harry Schnoke and Harold Schnoke, all of Pine Grove.
All services will be held at the convenience of the family, with Pastor Barry Spatz officiating. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to either Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or Meals on Wheels, checks payable to Diakon Community Services, 118 S.
