Margaret Nester Obituary
Margaret Ann (Stefero) Nester, 102, formerly of Shenandoah Heights, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021.
Margaret was born in 1918 in Gilberton, to Dmitri and Anna (Mallick) Stefero.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, John Nester. She was the last surviving sibling of the Stefero family, which included sisters, Mary, Anna, Eva, Nellie, Theresa and Helen, and brothers, Michael, John, Peter and Steven.
Margaret is survived by her two sons and their spouses, John D. Nester DDS (Margaret), of Mechanicsburg, and David M. Nester, JD (Azita Amjadi), of Cabin John, Md.; three grandchildren, Katherine Nester (fiancé, Michael Oberg), of Charlotte, N.C., Michael Nester (spouse, Christina McGee), of Jersey City, N.J., and Leyla Nester, of Cabin John, Md. In addition, she leaves behind a large, loving extended family of nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 30, at Holy Apostles Church, Mechanicsburg. Due to current restrictions, attendance will be limited to the immediate family. For those who wish to attend virtually, please access the service beginning at 10 a.m. by visiting YouTube.com Holy Apostles Orthodox Church. A graveside service with family and friends will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Ascension Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Frackville. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Holy Apostles Orthodox Church, 7111 Wertzville Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050 or to Holy Ascension Russian Orthodox Church, 209 S. My mother, Claire, was Margaret's roommate at Church of God. She was a very lovely person and I was so sad to hear of her passing. My mom will definitely miss her. Sending prayers and may God bless your family at this time.
