Thomas J. Conroy Sr., 74, of Frackville, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully Sunday evening at his residence.

A lifelong resident of Frackville, he was a son of the late James and Bertha Bartholomew Conroy.

Thomas was a graduate of Frackville High School class of 1953, where he was active in many sports.

He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and BPO Elks 1533, where he served as past secretary of the house committee, both of Frackville.

An avid golfer, he enjoyed playing in several leagues in the area and was often asked to be tournament director.

He had a long, successful career in the personnel, purchasing and insurance professions, including 21 years with Zapata Industries, and most recently with Anthracite Insurance Group.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Patrick; a sister, Patricia Boyle; brothers, Francis and Robert Conroy.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret "Peggy" O'Connor Conroy, to whom he was married 49 years; two sons, Thomas Conroy Jr., Frackville, and Christopher and his wife, Lisa Conroy, Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a daughter, Kelly Valenti and her husband, Vito, and their children, Phillip, Gabriella and Vito II, Cressona; grandsons, Matthew, Ryan, Cassidy and their mother, Teri Conroy, Ashland; a brother, James Conroy, Calabash, N.C.; sisters, Ann Heister, Reading, Mary Lou Padamonsky, Schnecksville, and Barbara Harris, Wescosville; nieces and nephews.
