Janet was a good hearted woman who fostered passions in herself and others. Her huge capacity for compassion has touched many lives, especially those in crisis. I'm better for having known her and appreciate the courage and joy for life that she exuded, most especially as she faced her own illness and mortality. I'll miss sitting around the fire with her - she had a beautiful gentle intensity when she listened to people's stories. My heart aches for her family and dear ones as you live without her sweet inspiring presence. May her spirit soar in freedom and light.

Janet moved to a townhouse just across the street from me on Prairie Trail and we connected right away, with our both being avid bicyclists and in the clinical counseling profession. Janet was a joy to be around and so supportive of me despite her illness. She will be sorely missed, but I know she will be in a much better place. I would attend the gathering on Saturday, but cannot be in Greensboro. I will stop by sometime when I see Celia's car there when back and give her my condolences. May you all find much comfort from our dear Lord and family and friends. I will make a donation in Janet's memory.

To the family of Janet, I am her former next door neighbor at 1312 Virginia Acres, Florence, SC. I believe it was the Providence of God on this morning for SCnow.com local obituaries to appear on my mobile phone. This is how I learned of my kind, beautiful, loving, and supportive former neighbor. When my late husband was diagnosed with cancer in 2013, Janet worked at McLeod, she did not know this; as he went through 35 chemo and radiation treatments. and " he and I took pictures ringing the bell at McLeod Cancer Treatment Center. However, November 2016, he started "coughing again" in April if 2016, he was checked and another "cancer" so small was found; that the microscope almost missed it. We discussed the situation with Janet and she became not only concerned; but active with my husband in the treatment available; she would come over and be a listening ear as I faced the "scariest event in my life" concerning my husband. After my beloved husband passed away on September 17,2016, I was devastated, life as I knew it was gone. Janet was there, not only for me; but our children, and grandchildren. I eventually had to move in 2019. Janet was considering moving also to NC. I shall remember Janet and I sitting outside sharing many conversations about our lives as neighbors from November 1, 2014 through April 2016. To her family and especially her niece; that she "spoke of so joyfully; you are all in my prayers, may Our God giv you comfort, peace, and strength for the remainder of your life. I know it was God's Providence tat allowed my family to move beside Janet and come to know her and share a part of our life. The Smith Family.

I just read a post on Facebook from one of my Church members who knew Janet. I am sad to hear about her loosing her battle. When she decided to sell her home here in Florence, she called me to be her Realtor. She told me she was starting her treatment in NC but was being positive. She already had her condo up there so it made her move from here a little easier on her. She was such a smart lady and I was happy for her that her home sold fast. It may be late coming to the family but I send my condolences !
