Joseph "Joey" Eugene Weatherford, Sr., 53, of Mars Bluff, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023. Joey was born on August 27, 1969, to parents Jack and Diane Weatherford in Mars Bluff. After Joey graduated from Wilson High School in 1987, he went on to work for Gilbert Construction Co., Hills Heating and Air, Pepsi-Cola of Florence, Coca-Cola Bottling Company and McLeod Hospital.

Joey is preceded in death by his mother, Diane Miller Weatherford, and his wife, Sheila Locklear Weatherford.

Joey is survived by his father, Jack Weatherford Sr., brothers Jack (Lynette) Weatherford Jr. and Earl (Renee) Weatherford, children Joey (Stephanie) Weatherford Jr. and Justin (Brittany) Weatherford and stepson Russell Hunsucker Jr., grandchildren, Ansleigh, Jackson, John, Callie and Joseph, and many nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Mizpah Baptist Church of Florence. Joey spent his time watching Carolina Gamecock football, hunting, fishing, and enjoying life with many family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Mizpah Baptist Church on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 2:00 pm following a visitation beginning at 1:00 pm.

Joey, I am going to miss hearing your music playing loud before I see you. Hearing your laugh. Your fussing at me about watching my soaps. When you liked watching that crazy wrestling. One of the hardest thing I have already notice is not seeing your light on in your house. Our family is forever changed you are going to be truly missed. Also one thing I remember is your always telling me you loved me before leaving my house like every time you saw Earl and me. I know you are at peace and in no pain. I know you are with Sheila and Nanny and I bet you are having a great time. We sure have had a lot of wonderful family times together that I will always cherish. Uncle Joey, I wish I could hug you and tell you I love you one last time. While my heart hurts that I can´t do that right now, I know that I will again one day. I know you are reunited with Nanny and Aunt Sheila and your pain of missing them is finally gone. I will miss your laugh, your hugs and your sense of humor. I will remember you always.
