Bernadine Kmitch Obituary

Bernadine "Bernie" H. Kmitch

Bernadine "Bernie" H. Kmitch, age 99, passed away May 2nd, 2021. Bernie was born August 20th, 1921. Preceded in death by parents Michael Kedrowski and Violet Kedrowski (Burggraff), stepfather Butch Burggraff, brother Robert Kedrowski, sisters Shirley Nordberg, Rosemary "Honey" Haugh, Ione Orris, son-in-law Steve Kampa and, the love of her life, Raymond A. "Ray" Kmitch.

Bernie is survived by her sisters Mickey Skwira and Marre Welinski; her loving children Michael (Karen) Kmitch, Raymond "Skip" (Judy) Kmitch, Linda Kampa and Pat (Kevin) Zahler, 12 well-loved grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

It takes a special person to make 12 grandchildren always feel seen, heard, cared for, supported, and loved, but she did just that. She truly knew each of us, individually, and was our biggest cheerleader for every major life moment. She instilled in us a love of birds, snail mail, and gardening, as well as her feisty, adventurous, and loving personality and amazing sense of humor. She's the garden that grew our family and tangled us all up in love.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Bernie's wonderful caregivers at Arlington Place and Moments Hospice.

There will be a private burial and celebration of life at a later date. Bernie would like any memorial contributions to go to Make a Wish Foundation, Second Harvest Heartland, and American Cancer Society
