David Gilchrist Obituary

Dr. David Gilchrist died peacefully at his home in Sedona, Arizona of pancreatic cancer. He grew up in northern Minnesota graduating valedictorian and all state football from Pine River High School. He attended the University of Minnesota undergraduate and the University of Minnesota Medical School. He practiced Orthopedic Surgery at St. Cloud Orthopedics where he was instrumental in starting the Orthopedic Sports Center. One of his accomplishments was being named to the St. Cloud State University Sports Hall of Fame for his involvement in the sports medicine program there. He retired to Ouray, Colorado and Sedona, Arizona, pursuing his passions for mountain biking, hiking, and skiing. 

He is survived by his loving wife Virginia; his daughter Pamela and James Brandt of St. Louis Park, Minnesota and their sons Abraham and Matthew; his son Daniel and Karen Gilchrist of Steamboat Springs, Colorado and their daughters Caroline and Mackenzie; his sisters Jennifer Spado, Nancy Jensen, and Susan Gilchrist. A private memorial is being planned.

I think dr Gilchrist delivered my daughter on July 4 1982 when he was a resident in training at St. Cloud hospital

My sympathy to all the family. Dr Gilchrist was a fine man. His loss will be felt by many. Enjoyed working with him throughout my nursing career.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Dr. Gilcrest was my doctor. He did two knee surgeries for me. He was very compassionate and caring. Your family are in my prayers
