My mother, Muriel Blank, and I send our deepest sympathy to your family. We both have very fond memories of shopping at Ortland's Meat Market and can still remember how helpful and kind Fred was to us. Even though I was just a child then, he always took the time to talk with me and ask about my school day. I can still picture his smiling face. Three generations of our family shopped at Ortlands since the 1940s. He was greatly missed when he retired. My mother, who is now 90, can still remember how helpful Fred was in helping her prepare the meat for her large group of Camp Fire Girls when she took them camping and also for the entire Day Camp in Tildon Park.
