Susan Kosbab Obituary

Susan Catherine Kosbab, age 86, of Duluth passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Bayshore Health Center in Duluth.
Susan was born November 27, 1923 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to John and Amelia (Braun) Schroden. She married Claude Kosbab on June 3, 1947, and together they had three boys.
Susan owned and operated Claude's Shell DX Gas Station with her husband from 1956 until 1971. They moved in 1971 to Hackensack, Minnesota, where they owned and operated the Red Oaks Resorts for 33 years, retiring in July, 2004. They moved to Duluth upon their retirement.
Susan loved to play with her grandchildren, cook and play cards with family and friends. She spent many hours doing needlework and cross-stitch projects. Her favorite past-time was fishing for sunfish at their resort.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Frank and Johnny Schroeden, and three sisters, Anna Blissenbach, Clara Guggenberger and Lucille Salzer, seven brothers-in-law, Thomas Blissenbach, Claude Guggenberger, Andrew Dingman, Adolph Kirchner, Francis Salzer, and Richard and Leo Kosbab, and two sisters-in-law, Marcella Schroden and Catherine Schroden.
Susan will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Claude, three sons, Peter (Patricia) Kosbab of Monroe, Michigan, Michael Kosbab of Arkansas, David Kosbab of Duluth, a brother, Albert Schroden of St. Cloud, Minnesota, three sisters, Betty Dingman and Martha Kirchner of St. Cloud, Minnesota, and Millie (Edward) Krohl of Pierz, Minnesota, four sisters-in-law, Rosemary Schroden of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Mary (Robert) Zwald of Hammond, Wisconsin, Arlene (Bert) Goebel of Visalia, California, and Patricia (Richard) Floyd of Loathe, Kansas, five grandchildren, Ross, Brant, Lindsey, Nicole, and Jodi, and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Tuesday, November 16, 2010 concluding with the rosary at the Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 East Second Street, Duluth. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 East Fourth Street, Duluth. Memorial preferred to the Alzheimer's Association, 2002 West Superior Street, Duluth, Minnesota 55806. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home.
