Six years! Today is the Spring Equinox, a day John Jack would have celebrated!
April 25, 2019
Today, 4/25/19, would have been John Jack's 84th birthday. I am missing not being able to have another chat with him!

"John Jack" was what I called him, because it required some time & trust to be familiar enough to use his nickname. He has been my friend for many years now, and I treasure the many Groundhog Day cards that I have collected, as he celebrated his favorite holiday. We met in the theater world, but we hiked, dined, and conversed through the years. Even as his health failed, when I called from Missouri, he was upbeat and positive, sharing things he was reading and learning about; the most recent being his interest in woodpeckers. I was privileged to spend time with him on the French River, his beloved summer residence, where he introduced me to kayaking. He preferred cards, letters, and phone calls, refusing to text or use the internet. He was a responsible, intelligent, and caring person. I will miss his friendship terribly.

I first met Jack walking in the woods down by his home off of Brave Boat Harbor. He was a friendly and considerate guy who listened well. His wandering has come to an end. He will be missed. We wish his family well.
