Miriam Oshry Obituary

WESTON, Mass. — Miriam (Mason) Oshry, 93, of Weston, and a former resident of Ogunquit, Maine, and Brookline, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008.

Born in Brookline, she was the beloved wife for 68 years to George Oshry.

Miriam was the devoted mother of Jeanne Ashworth, and her husband, Jerry, of Cape Neddick; Richard Oshry, of Brighton; and Deborah Herzog, and her husband, Howard, of Belmont. She was the loving grandmother of Jeffrey and Robert Ashworth, and Annie, Emily, and Kaye Herzog. She was the cherished great-grandmother of Benjamin, Esme, Taylor, and Riley. She was also the sister of Paul and Robert Mason and the late Howard Mason.

Miriam spent summers in Ogunquit, first as a child, and then later with her own children and grandchildren at the Footbridge. She loved walking on the beach and enjoyed playing in the sand with her grandchildren. To her, a good lobster topped off with blueberry pie (from the late Beulah Stevens) couldn't be better. In later years, she and her husband took up golf at the Cape Neddick Country Club. Miriam will be sadly missed by those who knew her.

The family was assisted by the Brezniak-Rodman Funeral Directors of West Newton, Mass. Remembrances in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472, or a charity of your choice.
