Dear Elissa, I am so sorry to hear this - belatedly! Please accept my condolences, you must be heartbroken! David was such a mensch, and truly one of the most sincere and appreciative rabbis I ever worked with as a cantor. I am so saddened by this news, and sorry that I did not hear in time to attend the funeral or shiva. May David's memory bless you, and may you be held up on the wings of the Shekhina during this very sad time.

David and I have been close friends for over 20 years. I remember recommending him to the board of the Shaarei Tefilah synagogue in Saratoga, NY, when he first applied to become their rabbi, while I served the Shaarei Tefilah congregation in Glens Falls. NY.CA.
We loved each other brothers. David was my best friend. I will forever miss him.
Had I known, I would have gladly flown to bid him farewell at his funeral.
May he be under God's loving embrace, forever.

I had the honor of meeting Rabbi Senter when he would come to Webster At Rye to visit with the residents who couldn't go to temple. Now this was a towering man who if you saw him,you would go ,I wonder what he's here for.Well, I found out. He saw me, came over and introduced himself, stated who he wanted to see and he went to the room to spend time with the woman. I gotta admit, I stayed around the room and just watched him interact with her.Whe, the time came to leave, I asked him to see a Jewish woman who couldn't talk. I watched him go into the room, introduce himself and sat down at her level and prayed with her.Now mind you she couldn't talk but she understood and smiled the biggest smile you could imagine. After awhile he got up to leave and I saw him in the hallway and stated that he just made her day. She passed two days later. I knew she was waiting for someone and that was Rabbi Senter.

Rabbi David- I so much enjoyed my many meetings with you over coffee and lunch and our walks around town were priceless. I appreciate all you have done for our community, your commitment, leadership and welcoming personality were such an inspiration.
