Sandra McCartney Obituary

YORK, Maine - Sandra J. McCartney, 76, of 117 Long Sands Rd., and formerly of Everett, Mass., passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 in York Hospital. She was born January 30, 1942 in Portsmouth, N.H. a daughter of the late William W. and Dorothy (Hanson) Varrell.

She was a graduate of York High School. She had worked at Hannaford in Portsmouth, N.H., for many years. She was an active member of Connect Community Church and the York Housing Authority where she enjoyed gardening.

She leaves two sons, Kyle McCartney and his wife Ralene of Seabrook, N.H., and Mark McCartney and his wife Sissy of Litchfield, N.H.; a sister Candis V. Bridges and her husband Charles of York Harbor, Maine; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and her Kit-Kat.

SERVICES: A Graveside service will take place at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, December 5, in the First Parish Cemetery, 180 York St., York, Maine with light refreshments to follow in the First Parish Church, "Fellowship Hall".

Memorial contributions may be made to York Housing Authority, 4 Pine Grove Lane, York, Maine 03909 or to Connect Community Church. Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, York, Maine is assisting with arrangements. Visit www.lucaseatonfuneralhome.com.

Many great years working with Sandy at Hannafords. She always was warm-hearted and giving. She always turned a bad situation into a more tolerable one. She will be greatly missed.

I'm so very sorry to the family of your loss Sandy was so sweet kind loving to me her spirit was every were I reamber when I first walked into Connect Community Church for the first time she welcomed me with open arm hug she had on this pink hat with a butterfly on it in my mind as she gave me a hug I was like OK she loved her crazy hats I told her that if she got rid of that hat I wanted it she said SOLD I love her so much and will miss her and I will hold her in my heart till I see her again it's not goodbye it's see you latter I'm sad but know she is with God rejoiceing no more pain no more sickness. I love you so much my beautiful friend Sister In Christ.
