Alexander Hamilton Obituary

Alexander Hamilton II

Alexander Hamilton II, 79, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2017 at Bailey Manor Adult Family Home, Bainbridge Island, WA.

Alex, son of Alexander and Ellen (Ballentine) Hamilton, spent his boyhood in St. Helena California with his brother William and his sister Diana. While working for United Airlines in 1961, Alex met Judy Givens, a stewardess. They fell in love and married in San Francisco in 1963. They welcomed a daughter, Stephanie, in 1968.

Alexander enjoyed traveling. He had a great curiosity about people and places and relished a good story or joke. He appreciated the poetry of Robert Service and Kipling and could recite much by memory. Alex had the mind of an engineer and the hands of a craftsman. He could build or fix anything. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, sailing his wooden sailboat San Souci, and voraciously reading.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judith Givens Hamilton, his daughter Stephanie, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Rob and Marti Bailey of Bailey Manor Adult Family Home for their excellent facility and care.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 2 PM at Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church on Bainbridge Island, Washington. A reception will follow at the church hall.
