Bill Mattross Obituary

Bill MATTROSS Born William Joseph Mattrass, Bill ended his journey upon this earth on March 18, 2010, a journey that began August 7, 1927 in Denver, Colorado. Enlisting in the Navy in 1943, he was awarded 6 medals. He returned to his home in Colorado and started work in the construction trade. In 1967 he moved his family to Washington State, working for Pacific Construction. He worked on many buildings in Seattle, specifically the Columbia Center, a project of great pride to him. Retiring from Pacific in 1993, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and baking and was noted for his pies and cookies. Bill was a devoted family man, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.He was always happy to teach and put his knowledge to good use. He is survived by his wife & partner Patricia who was his constant companion after his retirement. Surviving are: son, Richard Mattrass of LaConner, WA, daughters Cheri Rohleder of Milton and Kim Mattross of Preston, WA. Grandchildren Katie and Carri Duncan, sisters Phyllis Miller and Josephine Fischer and numerous Nieces and Nephews. The family will miss him dearly. Cremation was provided by Heritage Burial and Cremation. There will be no service at his request. The family thanks the medical personnel at Virginia Mason Clinic, both in Seattle and Bellevue , who showed great devotion and care. Dr. Larson and staff, Dr. Vuky and staff, and Providence Hospice and staff for the excellent care they gave him on his last days. Special thanks to Jon Seth, a wonderful friend to Bill and the family. A remembrance and Bar-b-que is planned at his residence at a later date.

Our prayers are with you. Bill will be missed. I'm happy that I got to be his friend and co-worker during the PPS and PCS days. He was a smart man and carried a lot of integrity. Rest in peace Bill, and thanks for the memories.
