Dorothy Bothell Obituary

Dorothy Marion BOTHELL Dorothy Marion Bothell, 101, passed away on August 17, 2008, at her home in Auburn. She was born to John and Ellen Holmes in San Francisco California on February 1, 1907. Her Father was a naval officer, and when she was a young girl, her Mother brought her to Seattle where she graduated from Broadway High School in 1925. Shortly thereafter, she met her husband Howard H. Bothell, the great-grandson of David C. Bothell, founding father of the City of Bothell. Howard and Dorothy were married in Cashmere Washington on November 11, 1925. They raised two sons, Howard and John. Howard was employed at Gallager Motors in Seattle as Sales Manager. In 1938, Howard and Dorothy were presented with the opportunity to purchase the Chevrolet franchise in Auburn WA. World War II came, and Howard was commissioned as a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy. During her husband's absence, Dorothy operated and managed the Dealership until Howard returned in 1945. Following, Dorothy's life took on a new chapter, serving the Red Cross, Auburn City Council, and the Auburn Cemetery Board for 18 years. As Auburn continued to grow, Dorothy helped organize the first chapter of the Women's Business and Professional Club, serving as President in 1945 and 1946. She was a member of the Auburn Garden Club, Soroptamist, Eastern Star, Auburn Elks, Washington Athletic Club, Seattle Rainier Club and the Seattle Yacht Club. Survivors include her two sons; Howard (Doris), John (Peggy), and seven grandchildren, Johann (Randy), John Jr., James (Tammy), Pamela, Kathy, David, Brad, and eight great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a person who always gave of herself to her family and the community. Memories of her will undoubtedly linger in the hearts and minds of all her family and her many friends. Services will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Price-Helton Funeral Chapel in Auburn, WA, with at reception to follow at the Auburn Golf Course. Burial will be at Mt View Cemetery, Auburn, WA.

For those who did not know her she was Smart, Witty, Generous, Loving and Dedicated to her Family and Community.
