Ed was a colleague and a friend. Though we often went months, and lately a year without contact, each time we met the conversation started as though no time had passed. That was his gift. Asking about my own family and job before I had a chance to ask about his own. He was a loving man and we will miss him.

Sending my condolences to the entire family. The news of your great loss brought sadness that this world lost a fabulous individual. Known to many back in the day at Broadway QFC as Eddie Mac where I shared a lot of laughs and watched him eye a special someone in the Bakery. Deanna there are no words. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

So very sorry to hear of Ed's sudden passing - such sad news. Love & comfort to everyone during this time. It was great to re-connect with Ed during the MacMillan gathering a few years ago. I so appreciated his intelligence, presence, sense of humor, & great household, and felt so grateful for his welcoming energy. Very inspiring at the time, and now as well. Much comfort to family & friends who will greatly miss him.

As others have mentioned, Ed was a great mentor in sports. I first met Ed while he was coaching youth baseball in Edmonds including his son Gavin, and mine Tony. He often played basketball with Gavin at the local school, and once invited my kids to shoot some hoops. Not only did Ed have the patience for the kids, he knew how to make it fun! My daughter, Jade, at age 14, still plays team basketball. Our thanks to Ed for taking time to make a difference in the world. We will never forget and will continue to live in the spirit he gave our community.

I am so sad to hear this. Ed was like a little brother to me for many years. My heart hurts for the MacMillan, and Barnes families, you are all in my thoughts daily. He was the epitome of goodness. Gone way too soon.

Ed was a good guy to grow up with, a pure soul and great spirit. All the years at St. Joe's soccer practices, soccer games, Soccer Camp at Ft. Casey, Overtime games, tough losses and finally the Championship, and so much more. He played a big part in the story of our class, and his loss will be felt by many. Sending lots of love to his family, and those close to him. Grief and loss never fully leave us, but as time passes, I wish you all to find and remember the joy and laughter, the love, in all the moments you shared together. St Joe's class of '80... Cap Hill forever!

what I remember about young cousin Eddie is his welcoming, including, grateful spirit :-) he knew he was blessed within the family, wanted to spread that love to many wider neighbors/friends...always a kind word and interest in how things were going for me...God rest his caring soul. All,
This is a hard loss for us, Ed was an awesome brother to grow up with, we had a lot of great experiences on Capitol Hill and a lot of it evolved around sports, hooping it, football, baseball, but especially soccer. It was a street game we all played. I was honored in 1979 to be asked by Ed and Billy McKay to help coach and train his 8th grade soccer team for St. Josephs. At the time, I was playing for Seattle University and after training ran over to Broadway playfield and used the same practice drills we were running at SU. The players took to it, we went undefeated on the season and won the CYO trophy at West Seattle stadium in double overtime on a breakaway golden goal by Patrick Hayes, game over... It was pandemonium on the sideline as Billy and I were tackled by the kids and they finally grasped that championship trophy. Truly a wonderful experience, this group of players were awesome, we also took the team to Portland and beat their CYO champs, game over...
Ed was a true champion in life, an awesome brother, devoted son to my parents, wonderful husband to Deandra and father to Gavin and Audrey.
I will miss his counsel and friendship.
Peace and love to Edward G. MacMillan, game over....
