Hey, Hogue! Think of you every time I see the Rainbow stairs at Kenmore City Hall and see a person feeling free to be who they are. True colors.
But I worry. Have we really come a long way, Baby? I hope so.
You're on my hero list for always.
Happy Christmas Eve, Christmas, and Boxing Day to all!

I think of you often, Hogue. I'd love to hear your take on so many things these days. Lotta changes, Luv, yet some things remain the same.
Shine on, Hoguey!

Rest in peace Freya Hogue, today I just found the band she was in; Sunforest the band's music is so amazing and under-appreciated and I'm so upset I've just found the band's music now. Freya seemed like a wonderful and bright person who followed her passion for music and next year on January 8th she will be in my thoughts.
God bless you

It's January 2022. Freya was a much loved neighbor in Hampstead London she lived downstairs from me. She was a true queen, artistically and royally. She said the most important thing in this world is Love. That's helped me through many different times since 1983. I prayed that God would take her under his wing and look after her as I am sure he will. She was a beautiful and just person and brave and strong and true. Her spirit was universal in knowledge and she was kind and very happy, appreciating the life that the good Lord gave us. She travelled the world. I miss her so much. I miss her music. She was much loved and is sadly gone from us to Heaven. Today is January 9th Sunday 2022.

My life has been so much enriched for having met you Freya. I arrived in London in January 1980, a young man from the coffee plantations of PNG. And by chance a neighbor of yours in Belsize Park. You introduced me to the theater, opera and all things art. Those times I often reminisce on and recount to friends. I am thankful that I did manage to track you down in Seattle, thanks to your nephew setting you up with a smart phone. Freya, a very special soul, you always will hold a special place in my heart.

Happy Birthday dear Hoguey!
The candle is lit, the wine and cheese and crackers set out, Brass Band Northwest on King FM, furry friend Sock Dog stretched out by the heater. The sun came out today and I thought of all those songs you sang in its shine, rare and beautiful bird.

I loved Hoguey. We confided our deepest feelings to each other. We listened with our hearts. We cared. Hogue always tried to help his friends with kindness, understanding, and heart felt encouragement. We meant a lot to each other. But, we never met in person! We have been devoted pen pals for the last 25 years. We shared each others' lives - without ever meeting. We were both Pisces, both animal lovers, both artists and the list goes on. Hoguey - you will be missed and never forgotten.
Such a distinguished gent was Hogue.

For those who knew Freya, she was impossible to forget. Words spring to mind: Spontaneous, funny, kind, generous, friendly, and talented.
I first met Freya at gathering of some folks from the Shakespeare Society in a house that bordered Dupont Circle, which was a hangout for Washington, D.C.'s Bohemian community in the early 60's. As was her way, she stood out in the small crowd. One thing that distinguished her from those who push themselves into the limelight was that she wasn't standoffish or cliquey. So, we immediately became friends. By her example, she emboldened me to emerge from my dark shell of shyness, to which I have never returned.
Freya's unique musical, theatrical, and literary talents were abundant. Great talent is unusual but not rare. What is rare was Freya's urge to highlight the beauty hidden in others. She befriended and championed people who otherwise would have been shunned even by her peers. Though I never rose to her level, she inspired me to emulate this virtue.
Those few survivors of the Claremont, and many more throughout England, would recognize such a celebration of the underdog by this in joke: Oh no, I shouldda gone to Seattle! Well, even though Mr. Kenlin never made it there, Freya did! And I know Seattle was spiced by her presence.
The best tribute that we could all pay to Freya would be to take what we've learned from her and pass it on up the line.

Thank you Hoguey, for the warm memories you leave behind in the hearts of all who loved you. There may be a harsh winter chill in the air right now, but thoughts of you bring me back to our garden, strumming your guitar, silver rings glistening in the golden sunshine as Oscar playfully circles your feet. They bring me back to dancing flamenco and singing at the tops of our lungs in neighborhood dives, the roaring sound of your laughter filling every space around you. They bring me back to our talks, where I found inspiration, encouragement and wisdom from you when I needed it most. They keep me warm in a cold world, to have known and loved someone as special as you. You were family to me and losing you hurts so much but it brings me comfort to know you are reunited with your beloved family and friends who have gone before you. I will see you when I get there, please put in a good word for me with The Big Boss. I love you forever, my King!

Dear Freya, Thank you for all the wonderful things you brought to my life - compassion, kindness, tender caring of my mom, my grandson, my animals, and me, deep conversations, music, adventure, wonder, and of course laughter. I tip my King John strawberry crown to you, my royal friend, for living your life to the fullest,in your own wonderful way. What a joy to have shared this life with you. As you said many times... Cheerio, and God bless.

Memories of Freya Hogue:
All songs Beatles and Who, accompanied by the Claire's Pantry Dancers.
Phone video of Freya Hogue, impeccably dressed and wearing 2 layers of eyeglasses, emoting Richard III to my attentive Border Collie.
An Ovation guitar case and a song for every occasion.
Emails, always with a photo attachment.
Watching All City High School Marching Band at the Lake City Seafair Parade. In 2015, the parade date changed and All City did not appear due to a previous commitment in Canada. We were bereft. "Something must be done." In 2016, the band played the Canada gig, then boarded busses which brought them directly to Lake City to perform as the closing unit of the Parade.
Whenever I saw the little blue car, I would stop and find Freya Hogue. I was never disappointed.

I will miss her fey sense of play and her steadfast love for her friends, for her young charges, and for the natural world, both wild and domestic.
Freya knew how to have a good time and how to ensure that everyone around her did too.
