Irving Greengo Obituary
February 9, 1925 ~ March 12, 2018
Irv was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa and graduated from Wacona High School in 1943. He served in the Army-Air Force from 1943 to 1945. Graduating from the University of Minnesota in 1949 with a degree in aeronautical engineering, he was offered and accepted a job at Boeing. During his career at Boeing he worked on every plane that the company had produced. He was most proud of leading a team to develop the thrust reverser brake system on the 727. Always interested in politics, Irv fulfilled his dream by serving in the Washington State legislature from 1975 to 1983. After 37 years at Boeing, he retired in 1987. Retirement didn't last long as he was appointed to the King County Board of Equalization in 1990 and continued working until the age of 92.
Irv loved working in his workshop, building and repairing anything he could get his hands on. His problem solving skills transitioned into the world of fabrics where he designed and sewed everything from tents to tailored suits. Spare time was spent singing with the 89th St. Deacons at Our Lady of the Lake Church, watching old movies and following current news, politics and the stock market.
Irv is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth and children Anne (Kerry) Dolan, David, Mark, Mary and John, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday March 19th, 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 8900 - 35th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98115
