J. David Belling

J. David Belling, age 80, of Bainbridge Island, WA passed away on May 28, 2015. Dave was born on January 29, 1935 in Seattle, WA to John C. and Dorothy E. (Knight) Belling of Bainbridge Island. A graduate of Bainbridge Island High School in 1953, Dave went on to attend the University of Washington. He married Marjorie Oilphant on September 18, 1954 in Winslow. He worked for the New Mexico Hwy Dept in Sante Fe for 3 years and returned to Bainbridge Island in 1990 where he worked for Trans Tec until this past fall. He was a member of the Port Madison Lutheran Church and in his spare time, enjoyed fishing, hunting, clamming, and digging for sapphires, traveling, sports, and music.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James; and sister, Beverly. Dave's memory will live on with his son, Bruce of Bainbridge; daughter, Susan Williams (Don) of Hansville; granddaughter, Lida Williams of Hansville; brother, Richard K. (Alma) of Poulsbo; and many beloved relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Port Madison Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 6th at 12pm with a reception to follow. Dave was laid to rest at Kane Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Port Madison Lutheran Church 14000 Madison Ave NE, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110.

As this reminder comes on the day of observance of Memorial day, it brings back many of the absent to recollection. Remembering Dave is a recall of riendship as well as professional collaboration in our work time together. I wish peaceful rest until we, if fortune allows, stand togeher again on Heaven's shores.

My deepest sorrow in sympathy and condolences at Dave's passing. He was a good friend and worthy assistant to me in his time at WSDOT. As years passed I lost track only at this date to learn with sorrow of his death. I have learned that God through his son Jesus is there to welcome believers into his kingdom and I trust that Dave is there now.
