Jack Hennemann Obituary

Jack G. HENNEMANN, M.D. Jack was a Family Physician, Artist, Private Pilot, Boater, Traveler, wonderful husband, father and friend. He passed quietly and unexpectedly on December 16, 2011 after a 2 year struggle with Alzheimer's. Jack was born in Los Angeles, California November 22, 1929 to Oscar William and Hazel Gordon Hennemann who predececeased him. He was a life long learner with a B.S. in Chemistry from La Sierra College in Southern California, and a Masters in Education from the University of Southern California. After serving two years in the Army he then Graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1955 and practiced Family Medicine in Seattle, Washington. Jack's practice had over 3,500 patient files from 40 years of practice. His patients spanned 3 generations and he continued to make house calls until his retirement. He was on the Staff of Swedish Hospital, Children's Hospital and Northwest Hospital and a partner at Roosevelt Medical Arts Center. He retired from medicine in 1998. Jack was a private pilot, learning to fly at 16 in a J3 Cub - his love of aviation and aviation history continued from 16 through many airplanes and the rest of his life. He was a lover of art, architecture, history, and adventure. He loved his wife, his children, friends and god - who he believed had blessed his life with much so he needed to give back in return. He was always willing to help a friend in need by "lending an ear" or giving the "shirt off his back". He volunteered with the State Department twice to go to Vietnam as a Civilian Doctor. To all he was known for his love of life and sense of humor. He is survived by: wife Suzanna Darcy-Hennemann; daughter Sandra (Peter) Vermuelen, son's Robert (Cheryl) Hennemann and Jon (Daryl) Hennemann and daughter Tygre (Nick) Andersen; grandchildren Vanessa, Brandon, Kelsey and baby Andersen and his beloved cat, Callie Doodle Hennemann. He will be missed by his wife and his children whom he loved deeply. He is remembered as a dedicated physician, artist, traveler and explorer, who lived adverturously and fully. His loving presence and humor are missed. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospicec/o Evergreen Healthcare Foundation - 12040 NE 128th St., MS #5, Kirkland, WA 98034-3013.

We want to add another message about our beloved physician, Jack Hennemann. He was the kind of doctor whose smile and greeting made you feel better as soon as he walked in the door. He cared about each of us personally. You didn't get your perfunctory 10 minutes. In fact, often Maureen was tapping on the door, "Dr. Hennemann, we're a half hour behind schedule." Once, when I said my huaband, Dimitris, was waiting outside, he said "Bring him in, let's see how he is." We have never known a physician like him and will love and bless his memory always. He told us personal stories about his family; he shared with us his thoughts and feelings. Surely it was a blessing and privilege to have known him. love and prayers to his beloved Suzanna, his children and all who knew him. Anne and Dimitris Angelou

I went to Dr. Hennemann for a couple of FAA medical exams and liked him so much I asked if he would be my regular doctor. He said "sure!" He was my Doc for over 15 years until his retirement, and I can say he was the best physician I've had. He had an uncanny way of knowing what was wrong just by looking at you. When I cracked a vertebrae on my final skiing adventure, he guessed it before seeing an X-Ray. He helped many people when they needed help most.

My sincere sympathies to Suzanna and all of Jack's family and friends.

To Suzanna, and to the Darcy-Hennemann families,

The error on referring to Suzzana as Darcy was my fault. I have known Suzanna for many years. I too, know better and was an error on my original note to all.
Please accept my appology.

Regards,

Anne Foster Angelou

Please accept my apology for the error in calling Mrs. Hennemann, Darcy. In my haste and remembering the Darcy-Hennemann last name, I addressed Suzanna as Darcy. Of course I know her correct name. Thank you, Suzanna, for being the wonderful loving spouse to our dearly beloved doctor. To both families, please accept our condolences. Anne and Dimitris Angelou

My husband and I were Dr. Hennemann's patients for 25 years until his retirement in 1998. He was a wonderful physician and caring, compassionate human being. We loved him. I remember when he fell in love and married Darcy. He told us about her very proudly. We have missed him and haven't yet found a family doctor to match him. Dear Darcy and Family, please accept our heartfelt condolences for your loss of such a blessed and wonderful man, husband, father and friend. May you heal your hearts with only sweet and loving memories. With love, Anne and Dimitris Angelou

I was Dr. Hennemann's patient when I was in junior high and high school. In addition to taking care of whatever ailed me, Dr. H. was like a big brother. Unlike so many other physicians, he was willing to talk about himself and to give a little guidance to a young man in search of a good way to go. I'll always remember him and be grateful that he was around during a difficult time in my life.
