James Birge Obituary
On Sunday, September 20, 2015, Dr. James Robert Birge passed away in Seattle. He was 68 years old.
Jim was born and raised in Wisconsin. He was a longtime resident of Houston, Texas and Yakima, Washington. Jim was a dedicated husband to his beloved Eileen, inspirational father to his children Cameron and Whitney, and charmed grandfather of Morgan. He was also a loving brother and uncle, mentor, friend, cat owner, and raconteur.
During and after his long career as a medical doctor in Houston and as an administrator supporting family health centers in Washington, Jim traveled the world, played a great deal of bridge (badly), tinkered with model trains, and brought friends and family together. His lifelong regret was his failed application to Star Fleet Academy.
We will miss him terribly.

Is it ever enjoyable to read an obit for someone you cared for or about? The obvious answer is no, but the obit for Dr. Birge did make me laugh. It may well be the best written obituary I've read because it seemed to truly reflect his personality. I knew Dr. Birge through MacGregor Medical, and although I had very little direct contact with him, I appreciated his dry humor, sharp wit and respect for patients and employees.

To the family of Dr. Jim Birge:
We knew him as "Birge" at Family Health Center in Okanogan. He showed up at our monthly provider meetings and brought his intelligent and witty leadership along. I enjoyed his characteristic humor and occasional sarcasm. He always had a smile and bowl of candy ready in his office, he was always willing to listen. I miss him, and send my condolences to all of his family. Bless you! Karen J

My condolences to the family of Mr . James Birge . 1ST Thessalonians 4 : 14 says ; " For if we have faith that JESUS died and rose again , so too GOD will bring bring with him those who have fallen asleep in death through JESUS . "

Jim was one of the first people I met at Mac Gregor Clinic and witty and dry. My wife at the time and Eileen who was working at the Lighthouse used to go out to dinner. Very bright and skilled, I have thought of him often over the years. A gentleman.
