James Dalpay Obituary

James W. Dalpay, Sr

James W. Dalpay of Renton, Washington passed away peacefully on May 31, 2016 at the age of 90 after a short battle with cancer.

He was born September 1, 1925 in Seattle, Washington. He served in the 103rd infantry and landed on the Port of Marseille in a strategic battle to overthrow the Germans in the Great World War of the Atlantic. The 103rd crossed the plains of Austria which forced the closure of concentration camps by the Germans. He was the recipient of a European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, American Theatre Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal WW2 and a Purple Heart for being injured as a direct result of hostile enemy action in Germany. His friends that were left will never be forgotten including the souls that were released with their loved ones due to the actions of the 103rd. James believed that if you have a dive plan then "plan your dive and dive your plan".

After returning home James worked in the logging industry in the bush setting chokers. He later went to school to pursue a career as a social worker understanding the displacements and struggles of American families. He later became passionate with properties and land and soon gained the leverage to start his own business in Renton in 1963. Dalpay & Associates became the landmark of the Family. He worked and managed his firm with his sons Tom and Jim Dalpay, until his illness with multiple spinal Melanomas in October of 2015.

He is survived by Diane G. Dalpay, his son James W. Dalpay, Jr and grandson James W. Dalpay III. Beloved son Thomas J Dalpay and grandson Ty Dalpay. Stepsons Larry Lackie, John Lackie, Mark Lackie, and Pat Lackie. Stepdaughters Carol Lackie and Mary Lackie. Sisters Patricia Hess and Mary Stewart Dalpay. Friends and business associates Gary Faull and Shari Wood-Richardson.

Visitation will be June 8th from 9 am to 5 pm at Greenwood Memorial Park Funeral home in Renton. There will be a private burial at Mount Tahoma National Cemetery with military honors as a veteran of foreign wars. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project at support.woundedwarriorproject.org or PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.

Jim was one of the most special people I ever met in the real estate industry and in life. A peaceful, honest and bright man whose peaceful spirit will be missed. I was lucky to sit across from his desk and share many stories/adventures. Jim was a unique, special, thoughtful human being and may he rest in peace...Sometimes we think these great people will stick around forever, just a reminder that life is temporary and to live in the moment and not hold back.........
