Joan Keil Obituary

Joan MacDonald KEIL Age 75. Born July 14th, 1929 in Port Townsend, Washington. Passed away July 18th, 2004 in Bellevue, WA at the Gardens at Town Square. Joan graduated from Garfield High School and worked at the Littlers in Seattle. Joan married Girard Keil on Jan. 21st, 1949 in Seattle. Joan was the daughter of Betty MacDonald who wrote the Egg and I, Onion in the Stew and Miss Piggle Wiggle stories. Joan and Jerry lived in Enatai and Medina with their four children Heidi, Rebecca, Timothy & Toby. Joan sang in variety shows to help raise money for Overlake Hospital. Joan was very creative; she loved to paint, garden, cook and create dried flower arrangements. Joan's sense of humor always made people laugh. Memorial Services July 31, 11:00, First Congregational Church, Bellevue. Survived by daughter Heidi Keil Richards married to Kim Richards, daughters Heather and Devin; Son Tim Keil married to Mary Jo, daughters Kallyn, Jerrica, Angie, son Michael; Son, Toby Keil, wife Sally, children Rachel and Griffin.

Although I did not know Joan or her family personally, I believe I can speak for millions of readers worldwide who have held a special place in their hearts for the Bards, MacDonalds, and Jensens. I am saddened to learn of Mrs. Keil's passing, and send my sincerest condolences to the family.

Joan and Jerry were the life of every FBI party. Energy, laughs and good times. Joan brought excitement and glamour to any group she joined. She was talented, personable and full of life and we will miss her.
