Joann SMITH Obituary

Joann (Lacey) SMITH August 22, 1940 - October 20, 2011 Our beautiful mother passed from this world into the loving arms of our Savior to be reunited with family and friends that have gone before. We are comforted knowing that we, her daughters, were by her side as she transitioned on. A silent warrior, she fought a brave and valiant battle with pulmonary fibrosis, refusing to let it define who she was and choosing to live life to the fullest until she just could no longer. Her wings are now restored and she is off on her travels again. Her gift to this world was touching everyone she knew with love, compassion and open arms, welcoming people into her family and making them feel like they never belonged anywhere else. Her legacy of love will forever live on in her most treasured possessions, her family. We are forever indebted to her. Left behind are her daughters, Annette Smith, Yvonne Rasmussen (Earl), Yvette O'Connell (Desmond), her grandchildren, Vince, Chris, Collette, Aislinn, Cailin and Carson, and her former husband and good friend, Fred Smith. Services will be held Friday, October 28th, noon, at Our Lady of the Lake Church. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Joann's name to St. Francis House, 169 12th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122 (206) 621-0945.
