John was my attorney and, for one intense 72 hour August climb, my partner in the North Cascades. As Nisqually Delta Association's attorney, he was a couple meetings away from convincing a corporation to restore an entire watershed draining into South Puget Sound. As my climbing partner, he was whoop whooping his excitement at pushing through the final barriers to the summit of NW Mox peak, one of the hardest points to reach in the Cascades. As an attorney, as a climbing partner, John showed what it takes to accomplish something truly worthwhile - imagination, communication, deliberation, reformulation, persistence, patience - never losing sight of that elusive point worth attaining.
