Kristin Linnae Higginbotham, 26,
of Bothell WA joined the angels in heaven on June 21, 2014. Kristin was born March 24, 1988 to Julie and Brian Higginbotham. Kristin is survived by her father Brian & stepmother Mamie; her mother Julie Chase & Julie's fiance; Pat Healy; her brother Kevin (Ashley), nephew Garnet; her sister Kailin; step sisters Anita Kolendar (Jess), nephews Tristan & Gaige; Cristina (Thomas) Holmes, nephew Elijah & niece Mia; Mary Kolendar and Caryn Swanson; Aunt DeeDee (Steve) Coughtry, cousin Kimberlee; Uncle Kelly Chase (Heather); Auntie Angelina; Grandparents Laurie Higginbotham, Bob Chase and Barbara Jones as well as numerous extended family and close friends. Predeceased by her beloved "Boppa" Grandpa Higginbotham.
Kristin attended Kokanee Elementary, Canyon Park Jr. High and Bothell High (2006). She attended Central Washington University (2007) and Washington State University (Vancouver) earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology (2010). She continued her education at City University earning the Degree of Master of Education Guidance & Counseling (2012). Kristin worked at Canyon Park Jr. High as a substitute counselor for the past 2 years. She was also a nanny for many years developing close bonds with the children she cared for.
Kristin played many sports growing up; her favorites were softball and soccer. She also loved snowboarding. While she will ever be known for her contagious smile and laugh, her teammates also knew her for her competiveness and fierce determination on the field. She was a free spirit who loved to travel and journal about her life adventures. She loved being a student and loved to read.
While preparing to join the Peace Corps in Guyana, Kristin met the love of her life, Mitchell Chicha. While their relationship was cut short by her passing, those who knew them could see their passion, friendship and love for each other.
Kristin was a young woman of faith. She believed in the power and strength of Jesus Christ's love, and the beauty and peace that would await her after her passing.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday July 13, 2014 at Northlake Christian Church; 19029 North Road, Bothell, WA 98012. The service will be followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital www.stjude.org or a charity of your choice. Pat & are sick with the flu, so everyone is at uncle Kelly and Heather's house. Every year I still want to shop for you! I see all sorts of things I know you would like! Layna and I went Christmas shopping and we talked about you non stop. She picked out an ornament for you and it is on our tree. It's a real cute tye-dye peace sign. You would love it!

I know that having a great birthday party was always so important to you, so we did it up Kristin style ... we had it at your favorite beach, Golden Gardens! The weather held out, just a little windy. We had a bbq, lots of food, cake, balloons, lit sparklers & lanterns ... only one lantern made it up to you! I hope you were watching, it was a great night. I am still awed by the greatness in Kristin's smile and spirit. She was one of the best snowboarding buddies anyone could ask for. I sense her spirit whenever I visit the mountains and remind myself how important it is to appreciate the beauty of every moment. Kristin and I became fast friends having both attended Bothell high and finding our lockers quite nearby at Stevens Pass Ski School. After discovering that we actually knew many of the same people it was a wonder we had not met sooner. She shared many good stories and laughs with me on the ski lift and always had a great power to brighten my day and put a smile on my face. Thank you Kristin for all the great time you shared with us on this beautiful land beneath the sun!

I am saddened by the fact that I just learned of Kristin's death. I was honored to be one of Kristin's Young Life leaders at Bothell High School. I was able to visit with her last spring and hear all about her excitement for the Peace Corp. I am so sorry for her family's loss and agree with every one that's her smile was contagious!!!
