I just found out about this the other day (March of 2025) when I ran across Susanna's name in a book I was reading about serial killer Israel Keyes. Susanna was one of the stars of my 1996 SCA trail crew. We lived and worked out of a camp we built ourselves 30 miles into the backcountry of the Selway-Bitterroot range in Idaho. Susanna was such a sweet girl, and so strong and enthusiastic. It breaks my heart to hear that her and her mother's lives ended this way. Condolences to their friends and family.

Mary was one of our daughter's , Debbie Carr Ciak, best friends. They attended Georgetown U. together and though distance has kept them apart, they managed to keep in touch throughout the years. Mary spent some time with us in our home when we lived in Pittsburgh while they were attending Georgetown and of course, we always saw her when we visited Debbie on campus. We are aware of her special gift in caring for others. We are heartbroken at the turn of events in her short life. We never had the pleasure of meeting her children, but we know how wonderful they would have been raised by such a loving human being. It was always so nice to hear Debbie tell me after her conversations with Mary that Mary would tell her just how happy she was with her loving husband and children.

We love you and pray for you, Mary and Susanna.
